The purpose of this program is to invite highly engaged community members to serve as volunteer “Forum Specialists” within their area of expertise. As specialists, these volunteers will answer questions in a player-to-player (unofficial) sense, flag posts in breach of the Forum Code of Conduct, and coalesce and transmit player feedback to the ArenaNet Forum Communications Team. This program is open to active members of the Guild Wars 2 community who play the game on a regular basis and participate in the English-language forums. Qualifying forum members may submit their applications via e-mail, as instructed below.
During their term of service, each member of the specialist program will be designated on the Guild Wars 2 Official Forums as a Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialist with an additional designation for his or her area of expertise, when appropriate. For example, a specialist may be designated as “Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialist – Profession Balance” or “Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialist – PvP.”
Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialists generally are asked to engage in regular active discussion with the Guild Wars 2 community at large on the official Guild Wars 2 forums. Each Forum Specialist should try to stay objective and impartial in any discussions about the game in order to provide high-quality feedback that represents the views of the overall community, rather than expressing the specialist’s personal opinions. Forum Specialists may make no promises—expressed or implied—about the relaying of information, neither that it will be relayed nor that it has been relayed in the past. Forum Specialists may not divulge information that they may learn about unreleased components of the game, such as upcoming changes or new content.
Application
The application should be submitted via e-mail to the Forum Communications Team at ForumSpecialist@Arena.Net. The e-mail must contain the full application; no attachments can be accepted. The application should contain the following:

Note: You may experience some difficulties with the forums tomorrow, as the reorganization takes place. You may experience a time out or two, or just general slowness to load. Each forum will be serviced individually, starting with the English-language forum and then working through each one.
We will post a notice when the reorg begins so that you’re aware of the period of time when the forums will be read only and when they’ll be fully back in business.

In addition to the normal Forum Code of Conduct, we have set modestly increased expectations for forum members who participate in the CDI Sub-Forum. Those who choose to participate in discussions on this sub-forum should be aware of the following:
Our moderators will be casting a more critical eye in this sub-forum to ensure that posts are constructive, reasonable, and respectful. This applies to comments directed towards either developers or forum members.
Posts that are not constructive, that use a tone that is unproductively negative, combative, or condemning, or that make no meaningful contribution to a discussion are subject to removal.
Those who engage in poor choices as far as what they say or how they say it will be subject to escalated forum moderation, including the possible suspension or termination of forum privileges.
This means that where you may receive a warning about a particular post in the general forums, you may receive an infraction point in the CDI Sub-Forum; where your post may be ignored in the main forum, it may be deleted or infracted in the CDI Sub-Forum.
We have set these higher standards to keep discussions on topic, constructive, and reasonable. By doing this, developers will be able to get the most value from their time spent reviewing your input on various CDI subjects and players will benefit from increased interaction from developers.
Please note: Forum members will not be able to create threads in the CDI Sub-Forum. Forum members in good standing will be able to respond to existing, open threads that are initiated by members of the Guild Wars 2 Team.
Thanks for your cooperation and for your contributions to our Collaborative Development Initiatives!

As you may recall, several weeks ago we announced the creation of our Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialist Program. We received a lot of applications from highly qualified Guild Wars 2 players, and today we’re happy to introduce you to the first specialists to join the program:
Rising Dusk.2408: Dungeons and Fractals
Marmatt.8590: WvW
Riku.4821: PvE
The Gates Assassin.9827: PvP
Wolfey.3407: PvP
As you can see, we have two specialists covering PvP, and we’re doing this because PvP is a broad topic that can change through even subtle skill balances or game changes. The same could be said of other elements of the game, of course, so we’re open to additional specialists in other areas, as well.
Our primary focus now is to identify profession-specific specialists and bring them on board to participate in the profession sub-forums.
If you’d like to make a contribution as a forum specialist, please let us hear from you! You can learn about applying on the forum thread linked above.
